'Spamalot' in New Haven
Fans of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" are easily on board for the Broadway- and touring-company show "Spamalot." But are casual fans and non-fans?
The answer to that is a spirited standing ovation, as seen on New Year's Eve at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, CT.
It certainly helps to be familiar with famous comedy moments of the British comedy group from decades ago (the Dark Knight's loss of limbs, for instance, in the 1975 movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), but it's not necessary.
The music is strong, the winks at Vegas shows and parodies of Broadway musicals are clever, funny and alluring, and the slapstick is brisk and fun.
That makes "Spamalot" a cowd-pleaser and worth the money. Our advice: Catch it soon (although it's only in New Haven through Sunday).
