Pequot Museum refreshes its store
Connecticut's most underrated museum has a new and improved store to check out with artistic and educational products, including items made by local Native crafts folks.
The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, located off Pequot Trail south of the expansive Foxwoods Casino Resort, just announced the grand reopening of its "refreshed" Museum Store.
There's a new drop ceiling, fresh carpeting, enhanced lighting and an improved sound system for starters -- with a goal of creating a more welcome and accessible space, says a Pequot Museum release.
Some interior walls and outdated fixtures have been removed to produce a clean, open-concept design that improves sightlines. Showcased in the new jewelry area is an expanded collection of pieces highlighting craftsmanship and detail from near and far. A dedicated showcase area now celebrates the work of local Native artisans, according to the Pequot release.
The store, open Wednesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., also offers souvenirs and an expanded range of kid-friendly items for families.
“We’re proud to reopen the Museum Store with a refreshed look and renewed focus on community, education, and access,” said Joshua Carter, director of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. “Every aspect of the redesign reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional and culturally meaningful experience for all who walk through our doors.”
