American Idle

Says Fox:
TOP 11 FINALISTS WILL COMPETE ON
“1960s BRITISH POP INVASION”-THEMED PERFORMANCE SHOW
TUESDAY, MARCH 20, ON FOX
Lulu and Peter Noone to Perform on Results Show Next Wednesday, March 21

OK, I'm no expert on "American Idol," but from what I've seen, the level of talent does not warrant the high ratings this season. I thought nearly all of them were bad trying to sing Diana Ross songs this week. Who knew Ross had such difficult songs? (Thank God for the British pop theme; maybe that will go better.) Or is this group just really weak? The thing about these shows, like "The Apprentice" and even "Lost," is they're really best served by a limited run and (if possible) a revival a few years later. Doing them so often leaves you with mediocrity. Does Trump need to get so many execs from a TV show? No. Would "Lost" have been great if it wrapped up its bizarro story by now? Probably. But they're cash cows, and producers strive to keep them alive no matter what. Dumbest thing is us sticking with them past their prime. Life's too short.
